Mondays

Well the last food blog went over like burnt toast. I was sure someone would have an opinion or comment about food, or a travel experience. I'm betting you do, you're just not sharing.

This flu bug has been no joke. I was down hard for three days. I thought I had it beat. It snuck up from behind and hit me again for the second time. So I play this game. I score my misery. My cough and congestion was the worst part. One night I had a coughing fit for hours. My throat was raw. But to distract from the suffering, I was playing a game in my head. I score from 0 to 10. A coughing fit would hit. Pretty good. I give it a 7.5. Next one, not so bad. Maybe a 6.25. Another rough one hits. I give it an 8. In my mind, nothing is getting a 10. Nothing is going to beat me. I just keep adding decimal points. The worst cough was 8.7535. Too bad bug, you didn't beat me.
The suffering is still there. It hurts a lot. It's a mental game that helps me. Not today virus, not today.

It's that time of year. It's the middle of winter with unpleasantly cold weather and insufferable sickness spreading across the country. The bright spot? Football playoffs. I have a horse in the race this year as well. LETS GO STEELERS! We won a wild game last week against our rivals, the Ravens, to make it to the playoffs. I watched another crazy game last night with the Packers and Bears. I thought the game was over at halftime. Never saw that finish coming.
Of course I'm cheering for my team to win it all, but I'm enjoying the game. It's the end of the year with the best teams. So far it's been tough close battles. It's a rough time to be a kicker. You're a hero or a zero. I wonder if they get police protection after a game?

In local news, last week in my bowling league, in my final game, I hit nine strikes in a row and finished with a score of 258. It was mostly luck. Pins were falling from the sky.

Woke up this morning to a wet floor from a leaking kitchen sink. Looks like a bad seal between the disposal and drain pipe. Dang. Haven't even had a cup of coffee yet. Time to call a plumber. I'm not crawling under there with my bad back.
Mondays!! Am I right?

  2. Very fortunate to have completely avoided the bug so far this flu season! Fingers crossed I’m not eating my words here in a couple weeks. Here’s to hoping the nicer weather brings you some quick healing - and a good plumber!
