Happy New Year

Image
Christmas came and went. All went well. Santa was generous with the gifts this year. I got a new golf bag and a dozen golf balls. I took the kids for a ride in the golf cart. Kids always want to go faster.  Santa also shared a flu bug this year. It's a mean one Mr. Grinch. Achy bones, fever, and cold chills. I can't breath or stop coughing. I hate that stuff. I'm heavily medicated and seriously doubt I will be staying up anywhere near midnight for New Years.  Changes for 2026. Right off the bat, ATT is changing my internet connection. They are no longer supporting landlines and DSL cables. I'm being switched to an 'Air-Hub' router in January. It's supposed to work with their cell towers. Unfortunately, this area isn't known for strong or reliable cell signals. This may turn out to be a big misadventure. Regardless, we will have to change the wi-fi router and password on every device in the house. All the TVs, computers and tablets. Oh joy. Next change ...

Christmas Past

I had my Friday golf league this morning. Interesting round. 40 degrees starting on hole 1. I'm wrapped up like an arctic explorer. A bit of a challenge to swing a club, not to mention my bones are creaking like a rustic porch screen door. Not sure why I'm putting myself through this. Dumb male ego I guess. I have guys in their 80's playing in my league and giving me the stink-eye because I'm wearing a beanie and gloves. I don't think I like Norwegians. Anyway, I got home this afternoon with several tasks to accomplish before Stacy returns home tomorrow with the kids. My main focus is wrapping presents. Here we go again with the science projects. I swear I'm not trying to be a Scrooge. Paper, scissors, and tape. Sounds simple. I apparently missed this class in school. Does the paper really have to overlap? Small gaps are acceptable, right? I'm in dire need of motivation. Maybe some eggnog with a shot of inspiration. I'm home alone, let's crank up so...

Holiday Decor

Image
It's that time of year again. Hard liquor and headaches. I'm talking about holiday decorations.  Let's start with the tree. I still roll with a live tree. Sticky sap and pine needles scream festive. The next step is my least favorite. Unpacking strings of lights. I believe there are two types of elves. The good elves that help Santa and bad elves that tie knots in your strings. I know for certain I did not pack them up in this condition last year.  This is the voice of experience. Always, ALWAYS, check your light bulbs before hanging them on the tree. Not sure who the genius was that engineered these tiny buggers, but it's true, one missing or bad bulb will kill a strand. I had seven bad bulbs this year. The spares bag only had six replacement bulbs. Time for another shot of bourbon and a new strategy. I cut the bulb socket out and spliced the wires. Bingo! There is a science to spacing the lights on the tree. On my first attempt, I had more lights, not enough...

Happy Birthday Todd

Image
Dec 9, 1965 - brother Todd was born. Here's a crazy thought. Todd would have been 60 this year. Master bidder of the 'Price is Right' game show.  Aug 13, 2007 - delivered to the angels.  18 years ago. Let's take a moment and wish this guy a happy birthday.
